Disney+ ‘Champions’ Series Hits IMDb Confirming Several Important Details

While The Marvels struggled at the box office, it did lay the groundwork for introducing one of the MCU’s most important future teams: the Young Avengers.
Following the film’s release, speculation quickly emerged that Marvel Studios was developing a project centered on the team. However, the project currently has no confirmed release date or production start. Reports from a few months ago suggested that it had been rebranded as Champions.
Now IMDb page title Champions resurfaced with the following description,
After a devastating event, mysterious teen heroes emerge calling themselves the Young Avengers. But who are these young vigilantes, and what gives them the right to use that name?
Besides the fact that the project is confirmed to be a TV show and the Champions rebrand has been officially established, several cast members have also been confirmed.
The show will also reportedly feature Hailee Stenfield (Kate Bishop / Hawkeye), Kathryn Newton (Cassie Lang / Stature), and Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan / Mrs. Marvel).
Marvel reportedly decided to rename the team due to concerns that the original cast may no longer fit the “young” label.
Additionally, the change broadens the team’s appeal and aligns with Marvel’s efforts to rethink its approach to younger heroes following The Marvels’ underwhelming performance.
Although Champions has yet to begin production, Marvel is reportedly searching for a showrunner and this is pretty much everything we have for you at this point.
