Disney+ Opens the Door to User-Generated Content
Disney+ is now letting viewers access user-generated content for the first time. The streaming service introduced a new Creators Collection, made in partnership with Pocket.Watch, a digital-first studio focused on creating franchises for younger audiences.
Pocket.Watch describes its approach as “a fresh, industry-disrupting approach to forging franchises for Generation Alpha.”
The collection features a wide variety of videos, with a strong focus on Lilo & Stitch. Fans can explore topics such as the origins of Stitch, behind-the-scenes looks at the original series, unboxing collectibles, and even baking tutorials.
Other content includes covers of Disney songs and comparisons between the live-action adaptation and the original series.

Currently, the Creators Collection is only available in the United States. Disney has previously said that user-generated content would eventually appear on its new ESPN app, and this expansion to Disney+ indicates the company is testing ways to include third-party creators on its main platform.
This move could point to a larger shift in the way Disney+ approaches streaming. By adding user-driven content, the platform is exploring ways to engage viewers with more interactive and varied experiences, going beyond traditional studio productions.
Introducing user-generated content could be a smart way for Disney+ to attract younger viewers and encourage more interaction with the platform. It will be interesting to see if this approach expands globally and how audiences respond. Do you think Disney+ made the right move? Share your thoughts in the comments.
