Disney has officially confirmed the next chapter in its popular musical fantasy franchise with the announcement of “ZOMBIES 5: Secrets of the Sea.” The news comes from Disney, with the film set to continue the story world introduced across the earlier movies.

The new film follows the events of “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires,” where peace between Daywalkers and Vampires is tested once again. This time, the story takes a new turn when a group of mermaids arrives in Rayburn.

Their arrival brings tension, as they use a powerful siren song to influence others and build new alliances. Nova and Victor are forced to step up and bring their groups together again, this time to uncover what the mermaids are truly planning before their world falls apart.

Disney has confirmed that production has already been happening in New Zealand, and the film will arrive in 2027 on both Disney+ and the Disney Channel.

The cast will see several returning faces. Malachi Barton returns as Victor, while Freya Skye is back as Nova. The franchise’s longtime stars Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly are also returning, this time serving as executive producers as well. Trevor Tordjman will reprise his role as Bucky, joining other returning cast members including Swayam Bhatia, Julian Lerner, and Mekonnen Knife.

Diaana Babnicova joins as Pearl, Taylor Oliver as Fin, and Olive Mortimer as Sandy. Emily Costtrici will also appear as Izzy, described as Zed’s zombie cousin and a new student entering the school environment.

The film is directed by Paul Hoen, who has worked on the entire “ZOMBIES” franchise and also serves as executive producer. The production team also includes returning producers Jane Fleming, Mark Ordesky, Joseph Raso, and David Light, alongside Skot Bright. Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly are also involved behind the scenes as executive producers. The movie will feature new dance sequences choreographed by Dondraico Johnson, with music composed by Tom Howe.

Writers Chris Hazzard, Michael Fontana, and Eydie Faye are handling the screenplay.

According to Disney, all previous “ZOMBIES” films, along with related series and shorts, are currently available to stream on Disney+.
