Wanda Maximoff’s fate has been one of the most persistent mysteries hanging over Marvel’s next crossover event, and the clues keep arriving in unexpected places. The latest involves Disney+, where the page for ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ has reportedly been refreshed with ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ branding.

Marvel has been steering viewers toward its streaming library ahead of the December release. Disney has put together a Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday collection that lists the films and shows it considers essential homework before the big team-up.

That is where the new artwork comes in. The Multiverse of Madness title card on Disney+ now shows Wanda and Doctor Strange standing in front of a green, stained-glass style mural, which fans are reading as a Latverian design tied to Doctor Doom’s kingdom.

According to reports, the film’s landing page was updated with a ‘Doomsday’ background to signal that it is essential viewing. The title is also highlighted in green on the platform, matching the film’s Latveria-inspired color scheme.

The poster itself shows Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch beside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, with the PG-13 rating and 2022 date still listed below the title. The stained-glass backdrop is the new element, and it echoes the green mural imagery used in the ‘Doomsday’ marketing.

The official collection includes 14 movies and 1 series. The titles are ‘X-Men’, ‘X2’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Loki’, ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, ‘Thunderbolts’ and ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’.

Some fans noticed that ‘WandaVision’ was not on the list, which led to speculation that the character could sit this movie out. Reports have differed on that point, and nothing from Marvel confirms either reading.

Wanda appeared to die at the end of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, when she brought Mount Wundagore down on herself to destroy every copy of the Darkhold. Marvel never explicitly confirmed her death, and her fate has been described as intentionally ambiguous.

Strange has his own loose thread. At the end of the same film, he grows a third eye on his forehead, which has led some to theorize that a version of him is hidden in Doom’s circle. One theory points to a costume linked to a character called Boris, which reportedly has a hole in the middle where Strange’s third eye would be.

The bigger conversation involves Doom’s Latverian Witches. Their costumes first appeared at Marvel’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con, and they now appear on posters behind Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

One poster shows the witch at the back in red rather than another color, which many fans see as a hint at the Scarlet Witch. Clea and Sylvie are also popular guesses, but none of the identities have been confirmed.

Elizabeth Olsen’s stunt double, Jennifer White, has added to the buzz by sharing the poster on Instagram. Reports also claim that reshoots included scenes with Scarlet Witch, though Marvel has not confirmed that.

For all the excitement, Marvel has not announced that Olsen or Cumberbatch will appear. Olsen has not been listed among the confirmed cast, and the July trailer left Scarlet Witch out. Some outlets have even argued that Olsen indirectly suggested she would not return, while other insiders insist the opposite.

That leaves the Disney+ update as a clue rather than proof. Placing a film on a recommended list could simply mean it is relevant to the multiverse plot, since ‘Doomsday’ is built on incursions and universe-hopping. After all, the film brings together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and more against Doom.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ opens in theaters on December 18, and the marketing has been unusually good at keeping fans guessing. Every new poster, costume and streaming tweak has been dissected for hidden meaning.

Whether the new stained-glass title card is a deliberate nod to Wanda and Strange or simply a design choice may not become clear until the film arrives. For now, it adds another layer to a campaign that thrives on speculation.

Do you think Marvel is hinting at Wanda and Doctor Strange’s return in Avengers: Doomsday with the Disney+ update?
