Dragon Ball’s 42-Volume Box Set Delayed: Fans Will Have to Wait More
Fans of Dragon Ball will need to wait a bit longer for one of the franchise’s most anticipated releases.
The Dragon Ball Complete 42-Volume Double Cover Box Set, originally planned for February 4th, 2026, has now been delayed to April 3rd, 2026.
The official Dragon Ball X account shared the news, explaining that “to accommodate the high number of pre-sale orders, Shueisha needs more time before releasing the complete set.” Release dates could also vary depending on the region.

The box set is part of the Dragon Ball Super Gallery project, which began in 2021 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series.
Forty-two well-known mangaka, including One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda and Bleach’s Tite Kubo, each reimagined a volume cover in their own style. Each artist also added a note expressing their admiration for Akira Toriyama and what Dragon Ball has meant to them. The project started with Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto redesigning the first volume, and Eiichiro Oda completed the final one.
Shueisha began releasing the artwork in its Saikyo Jump magazine starting in September 2021. In May 2025, the box set became available for pre-order in Japan. It includes all 42 volumes with double covers, eight original dividers, and a double-sided card set showcasing all the gallery art.
Pre-orders outside Japan closed in August, and international fans will likely face a longer wait for an English version. Some retailers, such as Amazon, may ship Japanese editions abroad, but the English edition will take additional time.
The delay is only two months, so fans should not have to wait too long. Updates about the international and English-language release are expected once the box set launches in Japan.
