‘Drawn Together‘ follows Marfil Cortés (Ester Expósito), the daughter of a wealthy Spanish businessman, whose life is upended when she’s kidnapped and released days later with no memory of what happened. Her father, Alejandro, responds by hiring a guarded bodyguard named Sebastián Moore, played by Hugo Diego García, to watch over her every move.

Regarding whether Marfil has actually forgiven Sebastián by the time the film ends, Expósito told Swooon, “No, I think she hasn’t. But her love for him is above everything. It’s always gonna have more weight [and] be heavier than everything else.” It’s a telling answer that captures just how much unresolved tension the film leaves simmering between its two leads.

That tension is exactly what’s fueling excitement for the sequel, ‘Drawn Apart,’ which will complete Mercedes Ron’s Enfrentados duology and pick up right where this cliffhanger leaves off. Author Mercedes Ron has already teased that Marfil’s feelings toward Sebastián will only grow more complicated once the second film gets underway, hinting that her loyalty to him hasn’t wavered even after everything he’s hidden from her.
