Dwayne Johnson gave fans a first look at the new Jumanji movie as filming officially started. On November 19, the actor shared a video on Instagram showing himself riding a golf cart on a Hollywood set. In the clip, Johnson points out a necklace he is wearing, the same one that Robin Williams wore in the original 1995 Jumanji movie, where Williams played Alan Parrish.

“As you see, little easter egg of Doctor Bravestone. This is the dice from the original Jumanji with Robin Williams as a show of respect…and a way of honoring Robin and this entire franchise with the way it started as we film our very last Jumanji,” Johnson said in the video. The clip ends with him leaving the golf cart to begin shooting. He captioned the post, “This one’s for you, Robin.”

The film is being produced by Johnson, Jake Kasdan, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Matt Tolmach. Production companies involved include Columbia Pictures, Matt Tolmach Productions, Seven Bucks Productions, and The Detective Agency.

The movie will bring back familiar faces from previous Jumanji films. Alongside Johnson, Jack Black returns as Professor Sheldon Oberon, Kevin Hart as Franklin Finbar, Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, and Nick Jonas as Jefferson McDonough.

Other returning cast members include Lamorne Morris, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Rhys Darby, and Bebe Neuwirth. New cast members joining the story include Brittany O’Grady, Burn Gorman, and Dan Hildebrand.

Jake Kasdan is directing the film and co-wrote the script with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.

This untitled sequel is set to continue the story from Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) and is planned as the fifth and final installment in the Jumanji series. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on December 11, 2026.

This first peek at filming is a touching tribute to Robin Williams and a reminder of how much fans love the franchise. It’s exciting to see the cast return and the story continue. What do you think about Dwayne Johnson honoring Robin Williams in this way? Share your thoughts in the comments.
