EA’s Iron Man Game Is Alive: Leaked Trailer Reveals Gameplay, Suits, and a Familiar Villain
Superhero video games have had a rough stretch lately, with high-profile projects quietly disappearing before players ever got a real look at them. EA’s own Black Panther game was scrapped before any footage surfaced, and Monolith’s Wonder Woman met a similar fate, leaving fans of the genre bracing for more bad news with every passing quarter.
That grim pattern made Motive Studios’ long-gestating Iron Man game feel like an obvious candidate for the chopping block. First announced back in 2022 as part of a broader collaboration between EA and Marvel Games, the project has stayed almost entirely silent since its reveal, fueling growing speculation that it had quietly been shelved along with its superhero peers.
That speculation just got a major reality check. An internal, in-progress trailer for the Iron Man game leaked online this week, confirming the project is still very much alive and further along than most fans expected.
The footage first surfaced on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit before being taken down, though copies quickly spread across other platforms. Running more than two and a half minutes, the clip mixes cinematic story beats with actual gameplay, giving the clearest look yet at how the finished game might feel. A notification visible partway through the footage reportedly reveals the leaker’s university and class year, leaving a fairly easy trail for EA’s legal team to follow if they choose to pursue it.
The trailer itself is unfinished and lacks sound, but it still manages to convey a distinctly charismatic take on Tony Stark, one that leans heavily into the MCU-inspired version of the character audiences are most familiar with. Several combat sequences echo iconic film moments directly, including a signature spinning laser attack used against a group of mechs and a beat where Stark catches an incoming missile just to throw it back at its source.
Much of the trailer’s appeal comes from its apparent suit variety. While the footage opens with Stark’s familiar red-and-gold armor, later scenes show him working on additional suits with alternate designs visible in the background, hinting at a customization system similar to what Insomniac built for its Spider-Man games. Reports on the leak have also compared the suit-swapping mechanics to something closer to a Resident Evil 4-style inventory system.
Identifying the game’s villains proves trickier given the footage quality, though one figure has been described as resembling a slimmed-down version of Iron Monger. Generic mechs also appear throughout several action sequences, including one extended battle that takes place aboard a helicarrier, a location instantly recognizable to any longtime Marvel fan even without additional context confirming who else might be involved.
Beyond combat, the leak reportedly shows glimpses of a possible open-world structure, with a sign reading “Chicago” spotted in one sequence alongside apparent Japanese locations elsewhere in the footage. That mix suggests the game could blend expansive city exploration with more tightly designed linear missions, though nothing about the structure has been officially confirmed.
The trailer closes on a placeholder screen labeled “Release Window,” suggesting the final marketing version will include an actual date once EA is ready to make things official. Given the August 2026 watermark stamped throughout the leaked footage, a full reveal at this year’s Game Awards feels like a reasonable bet for when fans might finally get an authorized look.
With EA’s Iron Man now confirmed to be alive and reportedly closer to a public unveiling than anyone anticipated, fans of the genre finally have a reason for cautious optimism.
The leaked Iron Man footage has fans buzzing — how excited are you for EA's game?
