‘Levels’ (2024)

The sci fi thriller ‘Levels’ arrives Tuesday, August 19. The story follows Joe after the daylight murder of his girlfriend Ash and a hunt for the truth that draws him into a reality bending mystery where nothing seems to add up. The setup centers on a man who risks everything to understand why impossible events keep happening around him and why the world behaves like a puzzle he must solve.
The film is written and directed by Adam Stern. Peter Mooney plays Joe and Cara Gee plays Ash, with supporting roles for Aaron Abrams and David Hewlett, and Amanda Tapping providing the voice of the in world system called MEL. The film blends conspiracy beats with speculative tech as the investigation pulls Joe through layers of hidden control while he searches for answers.
‘The Bayou’ (2025)

Survival thriller ‘The Bayou’ lands Thursday, August 21. A small group of passengers makes it out of a plane crash in the Louisiana Everglades and then faces an even deadlier threat in the water as aggressive alligators close in around the wreck. The story stays tight on the marsh and channels the fear of being stranded in a hostile place where every choice has consequences.
The production leans into water work and creature suspense as the characters attempt improvised rescues and try to move through flooded grass and mud while keeping quiet. The focus is on group dynamics and resourcefulness under pressure while the setting turns the wetlands into a maze that tests who can lead and who can keep calm long enough to make it out alive.
‘Money Monster’ (2016)

The real time hostage thriller ‘Money Monster’ is also set for Thursday, August 21. A furious retail investor storms the studio of a live financial advice show after losing his savings on a bad stock tip and forces the broadcast to continue while he demands answers. The production team holds the show together minute by minute as the police surround the building and the investigation turns up a suspicious market meltdown.
Jodie Foster directs from a script by Jamie Linden, Alan Di Fiore, and Jim Kouf. George Clooney plays TV host Lee Gates and Julia Roberts plays longtime producer Patty Fenn, with Jack O’Connell as Kyle Budwell along with Dominic West, Caitríona Balfe, and Giancarlo Esposito in key roles. The film tracks the on air scramble as the crew digs into the trade that set off the crisis and follows the money to uncover what went wrong.
‘Eenie Meanie’ (2025)

High stakes heist thriller ‘Eenie Meanie’ arrives Friday, August 22. The plot follows Edie, a former teenage getaway driver who left crime behind until a former employer offers one last job that could save her unreliable ex from serious trouble. The setup mixes getaway crew mechanics with a race against time as Edie weighs old loyalties against the risk of going back behind the wheel.
Shawn Simmons writes and directs. Samara Weaving stars as Edie, with Karl Glusman, Steve Zahn, Andy Garcia, Randall Park, Marshawn Lynch, and Mike O’Malley in the ensemble, and Elle Graham appears as a younger Edie in flashbacks. The film pairs character backstory with a present day job that requires quick thinking, clean execution, and split second decisions on crowded streets.
‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ (2022)

Family friendly sequel ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ speeds in on Sunday, August 24. Dr Robotnik returns from exile with new ally Knuckles to chase a powerful emerald that can reshape reality, and Sonic teams up with new friend Tails to keep it out of the wrong hands while protecting his adopted family in Green Hills. The story expands the game lore with the Master Emerald and a globe trotting hunt that brings the rivals into direct conflict.
Jeff Fowler directs, with a screenplay by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. Ben Schwartz voices Sonic, Idris Elba voices Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey voices Tails, while Jim Carrey plays Dr Robotnik in live action with James Marsden as Tom Wachowski and Tika Sumpter as Maddie.
