Eiza González Looks Absolutely Jacked Training for ‘Iron Jane’: “She Should Be the Next Wonder Woman”
For years, Eiza González has been quietly assembling one of Hollywood’s most unpredictable filmographies, stacking credits ranging from the acclaimed sci-fi series ‘3 Body Problem’ to Guy Ritchie’s action film ‘In the Grey’ alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill. The Mexican actress has never been content settling into a single genre, and her latest project makes that abundantly clear.
González and Brandon Sklenar are now set to enter the world of competitive bodybuilding in ‘Iron Jane’, a drama written and directed by Lissette Feliciano. Highland Film Group is handling international sales and will introduce the project to buyers at the Cannes Marché du Film, with CAA Media Finance and WME Independent handling the American side of the rights.
Training images already circulating online tell a story all their own. Eiza went on Instagram with a post showing physical preparation ahead of filming, and the photos showing a visibly more muscular physique sent fans into an immediate frenzy of praise and speculation. The comment sections filled fast.
‘Iron Jane’ follows Janie John, a woman whose childhood was shaped by neglect and invisibility, who is pulled into a world where pain is power and bodies are built rather than born. Female bodybuilding offers her something she has never had before, the chance to become untouchable. Coached by a former champion played by Sklenar, she pushes her body past its limits through relentless training, enhancers, and dependence, and as her physique sharpens, her grip on reality fractures.
Director Feliciano has made no secret of her excitement about what González is bringing to the role. In an official statement, Feliciano described the film as a story about discovering that true strength is often found in surrender, and praised González’s physical and emotional commitment, bravery, and collaborative spirit, saying her transformation into Jane is inspiring. Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser also confirmed that the cast’s commitment to the physicality of their roles had already begun.
Buried in the wave of reactions to the training images, one fan comment broke through louder than the rest, with users calling González the obvious choice for the next Wonder Woman in the DC Universe.
That conversation is anything but new. González had previously sparked widespread casting speculation when she commented on a James Gunn Wonder Woman Day post, writing that a particular image of the Amazonian hero was the one, leading fans to believe she might be in line to take on the role.
However, as CBR reported, González has since been candid about her feelings on the matter, saying she does not see it happening and that the role is simply not in the cards for her at this point, even while acknowledging it once genuinely excited her.
González’s career has reached a high point, with her starring in titles like ‘Baby Driver’ and ‘3 Body Problem’, and several major upcoming projects in the pipeline. Whether or not the Wonder Woman conversation ever turns into something real, ‘Iron Jane’ looks set to be her most transformative role yet, and the internet is clearly paying attention. Let us know in the comments whether you think Eiza González’s ‘Iron Jane’ training has you fully convinced she deserves that Wonder Woman call.
