Elle Fanning turned heads with a recent throwback with a daring look that combined historical elegance and modern edge. The actress wore a custom Vivienne Westwood gown featuring a structured corset that highlighted her figure and added a dramatic flair to the outfit.

The dress was made of glowing lilac silk and featured pearl-adorned straps draping off her shoulders, a nod to Catherine the Great’s famed love of pearls.

“For the Independent Spirit Awards, Vivienne and Andreas reached out about designing a dress inspired by Catherine the Great’s love of pearls!” Fanning shared on Instagram 4 years ago. She added, “And we all know no one does a corset like Westwood!! Love you both,” accompanied by a planet emoji, echoing the brand’s iconic logo.

The actress’s fashion choice reflected her ability to mix ethereal style with a bold, avant-garde edge, a combination that has become a signature for Fanning on the red carpet. Fans and critics alike praised the dress, especially the corset and pearl details that brought a historical touch to a contemporary design.

It’s going to be a busy year for Fanning. She recently earned praise for her role in Sentimental Value, playing Rachel Kemp, a performance that has helped cement her reputation as a versatile lead. She also starred in Predator: Badlands, taking on dual roles as Thia and Tessa, showing off her range in action-packed material.

Fanning is not slowing down in 2026. She will appear as a young Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, alongside Kieran Culkin and Joseph Zada. She also recently debuted on Broadway in Appropriate with Sarah Paulson.
