Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey is already getting a lot of attention, and now there is fresh talk online about Elliot Page’s role in the movie.

The film is directed by Christopher Nolan and is based on the ancient Greek story written by Homer. It is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2026, with a large cast and a major production scale.

The main story follows Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he tries to return home after the Trojan War. Other confirmed cast members include Tom Holland as Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope. However, many roles in the film have not been officially confirmed yet.

Among those still unconfirmed are characters played by actors like Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Elliot Page. Because of this, fans have been trying to guess who everyone is playing.

The latest trailer added more fuel to the speculation. A short and unclear shot of Elliot Page led some viewers to believe he might be playing a version of Achilles. This idea spread online quickly, even though the studio has not confirmed it.

However, newer reports now say this theory is not correct. According to entertainment news coverage of the film, Elliot Page is actually expected to play Elpenor, a character from Greek mythology who was part of Odysseus’ crew. This means he is not playing Achilles, as many fans originally guessed.

Elpenor is a lesser-known figure from the original story. He is remembered as a young member of Odysseus’ crew who dies in a simple accident during the journey. In the myth, he becomes an important figure briefly when Odysseus meets him later in the underworld.

The film itself has been in development for several years. Nolan began working on it in 2024 and later secured support from Universal Pictures. Casting continued through 2024 and early 2025, and filming took place across several countries, including Greece, Italy, Morocco, Iceland, and Malta.

The production is also one of Nolan’s most expensive films, with a reported budget of around 250 million dollars. It is also the first of his films to be shot entirely using IMAX 70 mm cameras, which is expected to give it a very large and detailed visual style.

The full cast includes several major stars, but many roles are still being kept secret. That secrecy is one of the main reasons why fans continue to guess and debate who is playing which character.

The movie is scheduled for release in the United States on July 17 and will be shown in IMAX theaters. It is expected to be one of the biggest film releases of that year, especially given Nolan’s reputation and the scale of the production.

For now, the studio has not officially confirmed Elliot Page’s role, but current reporting suggests it is Elpenor rather than Achilles, which ends one of the more popular fan theories that grew after the trailer was released.
