Epic First Trailer Revealed for Doctor Who Spin-off “The War Between the Land and the Sea”

After the action-packed season two finale of Doctor Who, fans got a first look at the next big story in the Whoniverse. The new spin-off is called The War Between the Land and the Sea, and it’s coming soon with a brand new cast of characters.

In this new show, something terrifying rises from the ocean, an ancient and powerful species that shocks the whole world by making a dramatic appearance. As panic spreads and danger grows, UNIT steps up to protect the human race while a full-on battle begins between the land and the sea.

Russell Tovey plays a character named Barclay, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw takes on the role of Salt. Alongside them, the cast includes Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, Ruth Madeley, Colin McFarlane, Adrian Lukis, Patrick Baladi, Francesca Corney, Mei Mac, and Vincent Franklin.

You can also spot guest stars like Waleed Hammad, Iestyn Arwel, Hannah Donaldson, Manpreet Bachu, and Ann Akinjirin in the trailer.

Russell T Davies, the creator of the series and also the showrunner of Doctor Who, shared his excitement about the new spin-off. “The excitement is beginning to build, as the Whoniverse expands. I can’t wait for people to see this magnificent cast in such a powerful, vital, epic story. Look to the seas!” he said, according to the BBC.

The show has five episodes and was created by Russell T Davies along with Pete McTighe, who also worked on A Discovery of Witches, The Pact, and Doctor Who. Dylan Holmes Williams is directing the series. It’s made by Bad Wolf and BBC Studios and will be released on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. Everywhere else, where Disney+ is available, that’s where fans will be able to watch it.

The Whoniverse is clearly growing, and The War Between the Land and the Sea looks like it’s going to be something big.
