Eric Dane’s Final Words to His Daughters — Emotional Netflix Interview Is Now Live
Actor Eric Dane, best known for his roles on Grey’s Anatomy, Euphoria, and Countdown, has died at the age of 53. Dane had been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and went public with his condition in 2025. In the months following his announcement, he became an advocate for ALS awareness and research, sharing his journey with honesty and courage.
Before his death, Dane recorded an interview with Brad Falchuk for the Netflix series Famous Last Words. The conversation was filmed in November 2025 and was intended to be released after his passing. In it, Dane looked back on his life, speaking openly about his personal struggles, including his battle with drugs and alcohol, as well as the important relationships and moments that shaped him.
Netflix shared the text of Dane’s final message to his daughters, Billie and Georgia. Billie and Georgia, these words are for you. I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall we had a blast, didn’t we? I remember all the times we spent at the beach, the two of you, me and mom — in Santa Monica, Hawaii, Mexico. I see you now playing in the ocean for hours, my water babies. Those days, pun intended, were heaven.
He went on to share lessons he had learned from living with ALS. First, live now. Right now. In the present. It’s hard, but I learned to do that… The past contains regrets. The future remains unknown. So you have to live now. The present is all you have. Treasure it. Cherish every moment.
Dane encouraged his daughters to find passion and joy in life. Second, fall in love. Not necessarily with a person, although I do recommend that as well. But fall in love with something. Find your passion, your joy… Find something that excites you. Find your path, your purpose, your dream. Then go for it. Really go for it.
He also spoke about the value of friendship. Third, choose your friends wisely. Find your people and allow them to find you. And then give yourselves to them. The best of them will give back to you… Just show up. And love your friends with everything you have. Hang onto them.
Finally, Dane reflected on facing life’s challenges with courage. Finally, fight with every ounce of your being, and with dignity. When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight. Never give up. Fight until your last breath. This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my spirit.
He concluded with heartfelt words to his daughters. Billie and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Good night. I love you. Those are my last words.
Eric Dane’s message is both powerful and moving. His reflections on life, love, and resilience are a reminder to cherish the present and face challenges with dignity. What do you think about Dane’s final words and the lessons he shared with his daughters? Share your thoughts in the comments.
