Gen V season 2 is shaping up to play an important role in the world of The Boys. The spinoff, set at Godolkin University, follows students with superpowers, and now it’s clear the story will tie directly into the final season of the original series. Jaz Sinclair, who plays Marie Moreau, is at the center of that connection.

Marie survived a full optic blast from Homelander in season 1 of Gen V, showing she might be more powerful than any other character in the universe.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sinclair said, “I hoped that they would write more into that [for season 2], and they definitely did. It’s kind of like Harry Potter with Voldemort with the death curse. How did he survive?”

Trailers revealed at Comic-Con suggest Marie could be stronger than Homelander. In The Boys final season, she may even be recruited by the main heroes to help in the ultimate showdown.

Sinclair added, “I was always hoping that they would write me to kill Homelander. I always really liked the idea of taking him out ’cause he’s such a royal ass, you know?”

Showrunner Eric Kripke, who leads both The Boys and Gen V, is cautious about confirming Marie as a savior figure.

He told Entertainment Weekly that Gen V will explore the “chosen one” idea while also making fun of it. Kripke explained, “If she can control everybody’s blood, then what can’t she do? How is she not the most powerful superhero on the planet? Just because she has the potential to be, doesn’t mean that she is.”

Season 2 of Gen V takes place a few months after The Boys season 4. The Godolkin University students, including Marie, Emma Meyer, Jordan Li, and Andre Anderson, return from the Elmira Adult Rehabilitation Center, which Kripke describes as a supe prison. Now the campus is fully under Homelander’s influence, reflecting his totalitarian control over the country.

Hamish Linklater joins the cast as Dean Cipher, the morally complex leader of Godolkin University under Homelander’s regime. “Cipher is an elite nuanced dancer of the human psyche. He’s trying to get everybody to level up. That’s the job of the dean — and by any means necessary,” Linklater said. The character’s powers remain a mystery, adding tension to the story.

Marie is expected to play a key role in stopping Project Odessa, a secret program first introduced in The Boys season 4. She may also work alongside Erin Moriarty’s Starlight in undercover operations at Godolkin. Flashbacks in season 2 will reveal Thomas Godolkin, the school’s founder, and the origins of Project Odessa, which Kripke calls “the origin story of the entire school.”

Kripke emphasized that while there will be connections, each show will focus on its own characters. “I’m very sensitive to the fact that Gen V should be primarily about the characters from Gen V and The Boys should be primarily about the characters from The Boys. While there can be crossovers and assists and help, it’s a little bit of a rug pull and not a great way when you’ve committed to watching…”

Sinclair hopes Marie’s story will inspire viewers. “I just like that she’s an underdog, and I like that she’s a Black woman, too. This super sexist, patriarchal bad guy. I would love to see him get his ass handed to him by a Black woman.”

The stage is set for Gen V season 2 to connect the dots between the shows while expanding the universe in its own story. Fans can expect a deeper look at how the students’ world intersects with Homelander’s reign and the heroes of The Boys.
