Eva Green is officially joining the cast of Wednesday for its third season. The actress will play Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister, who was first teased at the end of Season 2. Until now, fans only saw her from behind, leaving her identity a mystery. Green, known for her roles in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows, will appear as a regular in the upcoming season.

This casting marks the first major addition for Season 3, which Netflix approved earlier this year. It also clears up fan speculation about Ophelia, with some guessing that Lady Gaga’s character, Rosalyn Rottwood, might actually be her.

Ophelia is a troubled member of the Addams family. Like her niece Wednesday, she has strong psychic abilities. She was once confined to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital by her mother, Hester Frump, played by Joanna Lumley, but later escaped.

By the end of Season 2, Wednesday had a vision of her through Morticia’s journal, giving fans their first real look at the character. In the vision, Ophelia wears a red dress and long blond hair, a key trait that sets her apart from Morticia’s dark, gothic style.

The show Wednesday follows Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega, as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy. The series mixes mystery with supernatural elements and continues to expand the Addams family world. Other main cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, alongside Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, and others.

Eva Green’s addition is expected to bring new drama and intrigue to the show. Fans will finally learn more about Ophelia and how her story connects to the rest of the Addams family.
