Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway Face Dinosaur Mayhem in Wild New ‘The End of Oak Street’ Trailer
A new trailer for The End of Oak Street has just come out, and it shows a strange and wild idea: a quiet suburban street gets taken over by dinosaurs.
The movie stars Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway, who play members of a normal neighborhood family trying to survive after everything goes wrong. Their peaceful street is suddenly not peaceful at all, as giant dinosaurs start roaming around and hunting people.
The story is produced by J.J. Abrams and directed by David Robert Mitchell, who also worked on It Follows. The trailer makes it clear that this is not just a simple monster movie. It mixes family drama with survival horror in a very unusual setting.
A strange cosmic event moves Oak Street out of its normal world and drops it into a place full of danger. The Platt family, who are at the center of the story, have to stay together if they want to make it through.
Director David Robert Mitchell talked about the idea behind the film. He said, “A few years ago, I was walking through our neighborhood in Michigan, just walking down the street, and I was passing by this garage [with a] chain link fence and garbage cans. And I was struck by the image of, like, ‘It’d be really interesting if there was a dinosaur right there.’”
He also explained his love for dinosaur movies and how he wanted to do something different with the idea. “Just like anybody, the first Jurassic Park movie, I absolutely love. But for me, my language of dinosaur movies goes back much further. I’d be lying if I say that that isn’t a movie that I absolutely love because I do. But I wanted to do something different.”

He added that the film is meant to mix different tones, like suspense, drama, and even humor. “It’s the merging of character with spectacle, the way that I think some of those ‘70s and ‘80s movies did really well. There are moments of drama, of terror and suspense, and humor. It really does move through the range.”
The End of Oak Street is set to arrive in theaters and IMAX on August 14. It comes out just a couple of weeks after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the report suggests it could become one of the surprise hits of the summer if audiences connect with it.
