New projects are coming for fans of Robert Jordan’s “The Wheel of Time” series. iwot Studios is teaming up with Thomas Vu, a producer known for Netflix’s animated hit “Arcane” and a former creative lead at Riot Games, along with Anthony Borquez’s company, Initiate Entertainment. Together, they will work on a new video game, animated films, and an animated TV series based on the fantasy novels, Variety reports.

The new projects are separate from previously announced “Wheel of Time” films and games. iwot Studios is already developing 3D feature “The White Tower,” director Kari Skogland’s live-action movie “Age of Legends,” and open-world RPG games through iwot Games Montréal. Vu’s projects, including a PC and mobile video game, do not yet have distributors or streaming partners. The goal is to bring the franchise to more platforms and reach fans around the world.

Variety shared a first look at Vu’s proof-of-concept image of Rand al’Thor, one of the main characters in “The Wheel of Time.”

Vu said, “I see tremendous opportunity in expanding ‘The Wheel of Time’ into fully authentic, integrated, interactive, and animated storytelling experiences. The depth of the mythology provides a foundation for sustained, multi-platform franchise growth.”

Rick Selvage, CEO of iwot Studios, added, “Thomas has consistently demonstrated the ability to scale narrative worlds into global entertainment franchises. His background at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and franchise architecture makes him uniquely suited to help expand ‘The Wheel of Time’ in new immersive formats. We look forward to working closely with Thomas and Anthony as we bring the next chapter of ‘The Wheel of Time’ to audiences around the world.”

Anthony Borquez, who co-founded Grab Games and Grab Labs, has experience in video games, AI, and interactive storytelling. He also helped establish video game programs at the University of Southern California.

These new projects are part of iwot Studios’ larger plan to keep expanding “The Wheel of Time” across multiple platforms following the end of Amazon’s live-action TV series last May. Fans can expect new ways to experience the series, from games to animation, as the franchise grows globally.

This is a big step for “The Wheel of Time” fans. Expanding the story into games and animation could bring the world to life in ways a TV show alone couldn’t. What do you think about these new projects? Share your thoughts in the comments.
