Explosions and Thrills: New ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Set Leaks Reveal Epic Action
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be the next big hit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie is the 38th entry in the MCU and the fourth Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland as the web-slinging hero.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film’s script comes from writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, joined by a strong cast that includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando.
Sony started working on this new Spider-Man movie while finishing up No Way Home back in 2019. Producer Amy Pascal revealed in late 2021 that this film would kick off a fresh trilogy for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
The story development began around December of that year. McKenna and Sommers came back as writers in early 2023, and by October 2024, Destin Daniel Cretton was officially set to direct. The movie’s title, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, was announced in March 2025.
Filming began on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland. The crew used the secret working title Blue Oasis while shooting. Brett Pawlak, who has worked on previous films with Cretton, is the cinematographer for this project.
Most of the filming is taking place around Glasgow’s city center, including areas like Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate, which are standing in for New York City. These outdoor locations are hosting some big action scenes, including car chases and explosions. Tom Holland has shared his excitement about filming on real locations again after much of No Way Home was done inside soundstages due to the pandemic.
Set photos from Glasgow reveal armored vehicles marked with red demon logos, intense explosions, and armored tanks moving through the city streets. Fans and critics are already speculating these details could hint at the villain Mister Negative and his gang, the Inner Demons, making an appearance in the film. In addition to the outdoor shoots, filming is also happening at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release in the United States on July 31, 2026. It will be part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, continuing Spider-Man’s story while introducing new challenges and characters.
