Fans Can’t Get Enough of the Steamy Cowboy in Netflix’s Latest Rom-Com
Netflix’s latest romantic comedy, The Wrong Paris, is capturing attention for more than just its quirky story.
The 2025 film, directed by Janeen Damian, stars Miranda Cosgrove and Pierson Fodé, with a strong supporting cast including Madison Pettis, Frances Fisher, and Yvonne Orji. It tells the story of Dawn, a woman who joins a dating show she thinks is set in Paris, France, to pay for an art course.
She quickly realizes the show is actually in Paris, Texas, and her plan to get eliminated takes a turn when she starts falling for the cowboy bachelor, Trey McAllen III.
Pierson Fodé plays Trey, a charming, rugged cowboy who is thrown into the chaos of reality TV. Fodé described his character to Bello magazine, saying, “Trey’s like if Matthew McConaughey accidentally wandered onto The Bachelor set and thought, ‘Alright, guess we’re doing this.’ Playing him let me blend all of that … and yes, there’s a mechanical bull involved.”
He explained what drew him to the role: “He’s not a polished reality-TV bachelor, he’s a homegrown cowboy who somehow ends up with cameras in his face and 19 women fighting for his attention. He’s figuring it out as he goes, which is where the humor and heart come from. Comedy happens when authentic moments get messy, vulnerability happens when you’re okay looking stupid, and charm is what sneaks up on you in between.”
Fodé has been acting since 2012, appearing in films and series like Storytellers, Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List, Kill Game, Out of Hand, Disney Channel’s Jessie, and Hulu’s upcoming Swiped.
He told Bello, “I look for roles that scare me or make me laugh, the kind that make me think, ‘How am I going to pull this off?’ That fear usually means growth. Whether it’s a conman hiding secrets, losing 48 pounds to play an addict, a quarterback under pressure, or a cowboy bachelor dodging whipped cream on national TV, I want characters that challenge me.”
He added, “If the script makes me laugh, gives me chills, or makes me ask questions at 2 a.m., I’m in. Or if it pays the rent. But the through-line is always the same: there has to be heart under the surface. Something that truly entertains. As a fan of movies, I make movies for other fans.”
Since its release on Netflix on September 12, fans have been responding positively, with many praising Fodé’s performance and on-screen charisma. His portrayal of the cowboy bachelor has sparked discussions online, with viewers noting he brings humor, charm, and an irresistible presence to the role.
