The upcoming animated film is written and directed by Daniel Chong, best known as the creator of We Bare Bears. The story centers on Mabel Tanaka, a 19-year-old animal lover who gets the chance to connect with wildlife in the most unusual way.
After scientists invent a process that allows human minds to “hop” into robotic animal bodies, Mabel’s consciousness is placed inside a robotic beaver. Using her new form, she sets out to stop a construction company from destroying the forest animals’ home.
Piper Curda voices Mabel, while Moynihan and Hamm play two very different personalities in the animal world. King George is a royal beaver, while Mayor Jerry is a greedy leader who doesn’t always have the best interests of others in mind. The voice cast also includes Demetri Martin as a flock of birds and Melissa Villaseñor as Ellen, a brown bear.
Pixar first announced the project as Hoppers in August 2024, though Daniel Chong had already begun working on the story years earlier in 2020. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters in the United States on March 6, 2026.
With original characters, a mix of humor and sci-fi, and a story about standing up for nature, Hoppers is shaping up to be another unique addition to Pixar’s lineup.
