[First Look] King Kong Returns To Monsterverse in New Season of ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’
Kong is back. Apple TV has dropped a new teaser for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, giving fans their first glimpse of the legendary ape since his last appearance in 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
The series, part of Legendary’s Monsterverse, follows the organization Monarch as it studies and tracks the giant monsters known as titans.
Season 1 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters ran from November 2023 through January 2024, and the series was quickly renewed for a second season in April 2024. According to Apple TV, the new season will premiere on February 27, 2026.
The teaser, just over a minute long, starts with camcorder-style footage of surfers enjoying a beach, only to be evacuated because the area is a “high-alert titan zone.” Small spiky creatures emerge from the sand and attack the beachgoers, setting the stage for a series of intense scenes.
Viewers see Kong from a helicopter at night, Anna Sawai’s character Cate Randa with her hair whipped by strong winds, young Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell) looking up in fear, and modern-day Lee (Kurt Russell) struggling to escape a sea monster in a boat.

The teaser also marks Kong’s first major screen appearance in the Monsterverse since season 1, which focused more on Godzilla and other titans. Godzilla does not appear in this teaser, suggesting the season might shift focus more toward Kong ahead of his return to theaters in 2027’s Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.
The teaser confirms that several cast members from the first season are returning, including Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, and possibly Kurt Russell, who was last seen being pulled into a mysterious blue portal. Season 1 also featured Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, Mari Yamamoto, Elisa Lasowski, and Anders Holm, though their roles for season 2 have not yet been detailed.
This new teaser promises high-stakes action, larger-than-life titans, and more insight into Kong’s world within the Monsterverse.
