The Straw Hats are setting sail for a new adventure in the upcoming Season 3 of the live-action ONE PIECE series, and fans are getting their first glimpse of the Alabasta arc. The new season, titled ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta, takes the crew to a desert kingdom rich in culture and stunning landscapes, now on the edge of a civil war.

The storyline follows Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his friends as they rush to help Princess Vivi (Charithra Chandran) protect her homeland from destruction. According to Season 3 co-showrunners Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes, Alabasta is one of the most important arcs for ONE PIECE fans.

“For many ONE PIECE fans, Alabasta is the arc that hooked them as nakama for life, combining [creator Eiichiro Oda] Oda-san’s incredible talent for world-building and memorable characters in a story that’s thematically rich, emotionally gripping, and visually spectacular,” they told Tudum. “Reaching this story has been a dream for our team since the live-action series began. We’re excited to be in production on Season 3 right now. We’ll see you in Alabasta — it’s going to be epic!”

Season 3 is currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa. The plot centers on a rebellion threatening to destroy Alabasta from within, secretly orchestrated by the ruthless warlord Sir Crocodile and his syndicate, Baroque Works. The Straw Hats must navigate this civil war and face powerful enemies to save Vivi’s kingdom before it falls.

All the main Straw Hat characters are returning, including Luffy, Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Sanji (Taz Skylar). Fans will also see returning characters from Season 2, such as Princess Vivi, Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover), Mr. 0 (Joe Manganiello), Miss All Sunday (Lera Abova), and King Nefertari Cobra (Sendhil Ramamurthy), all promoted to series regulars.

New additions to the cast include Xolo Maridueña from Cobra Kai as Portgas D. Ace and Tony Award-winning Cole Escola as Bon Clay, the theatrical assassin. Daisy Head (Shadow and Bone) joins as Baroque Works agent Miss Doublefinger, and Awdo Awdo (Upcoming: Subversion) plays Mr. 1.

ONE PIECE Season 3 is set to premiere in 2027, promising intense battles, new enemies, and high stakes for the Straw Hat crew.
