Pixar and Walt Disney Pictures are bringing back everyone’s favorite toys with Toy Story 5. The first teaser trailer for the film has just been released, giving fans a first look at Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and Forky as they return for another adventure.

The movie is written and directed by Andrew Stanton and produced by Jessica Choi. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and Tony Hale are all returning to voice their beloved characters from the previous films, including Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and Forky. New voices joining the cast include Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, and Conan O’Brien, along with Greta Lee as Lilypad, a new frog-like toy that has captured the attention of Bonnie, who is now eight years old.

The story picks up after Woody left Bonnie to help abandoned toys find new owners. Jessie has stepped up to lead Bonnie’s room, with Buzz Lightyear acting as her right-hand toy. Bonnie’s interest in Lilypad adds a fresh twist to the story and sets the stage for the new adventures in this fifth installment.

The possibility of a fifth main Toy Story film has been discussed for years. In February 2019, Tim Allen shared his interest in a fifth film. While Tom Hanks mentioned in May 2019 that Toy Story 4 would be the final movie, fans always hoped there could be more.

Official confirmation for Toy Story 5 came in February 2023, with both Hanks and Allen returning. Stanton was announced as the director in June 2024 and later confirmed as the writer. This will be the first main Toy Story film without co-creator John Lasseter, who left Pixar in 2018.

Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters in the United States on June 19, 2026. With the release of the teaser trailer, fans can get a first glimpse of what’s to come and start speculating about the new adventures awaiting Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang.
