First Teaser Reveals Sam Fisher’s Return in Tom Clancy’s ‘Splinter Cell: Deathwatch’
Sam Fisher is back in action. Netflix released the first teaser for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch during Anime NYC, giving fans their first look at the animated series based on Ubisoft’s classic video game franchise.
The show is being produced by Ubisoft Film & Television and is set to premiere on October 14, 2025.
The series is led by Derek Kolstad, known for John Wick, who serves as the lead writer and executive producer. Guillaume Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage are directing, and the animation is handled by Danish/French Sun Creature Studio along with French studio Fost.

Liev Schreiber voices Sam Fisher, the main character and field commander of Fourth Echelon, a secret U.S. government unit that focuses on stealth operations and counter-terrorism. Janet Varney plays Anna “Grim” Grímsdóttir, the technical operations officer for the team. Other cast members include Kirby as Zinnia McKenna and Joel Oulette as Thunder.
The project was first announced in July 2020, when Ubisoft revealed that an animated adaptation of Splinter Cell was in development for Netflix. At the time, it was reported that the series had a two-season order, but Kolstad later clarified that only the first season had been green-lit and that it would take several years before it was released.
In August 2024, Michael Ironside, who previously voiced Sam Fisher in the video games, said he was “too old to portray the character for television.” Liev Schreiber then took over the role. Netflix confirmed Schreiber’s casting the following month alongside the first teaser for the series.
Fans now have their first taste of what Sam Fisher will look and sound like in action, with the teaser showing the dark, high-stakes world of espionage the show promises to deliver. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch will premiere on Netflix worldwide on October 14, 2025.
