The first trailer for the upcoming superhero film Supergirl has been released, giving fans their first look at DC Comics’ iconic heroine in action. The movie is directed by Craig Gillespie, written by Ana Nogueira, and produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios.

Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa. According to sources, the film follows Kara as she travels across the galaxy with her dog Krypto, and a tragic event sets her on a violent quest for revenge.

The project was originally part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in 2018, and the character first appeared in 2023’s The Flash, played by Sasha Calle. After James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-CEOs of DC Studios in October 2022, the plans were revised. In January 2023, a new Supergirl film was officially announced, adapting the 2021–22 comic miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

Alcock was cast in January 2024, making her debut in the first DCU film, Superman (2025), and Gillespie joined as director in May 2024. Filming ran from January to May at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, London, and locations in Scotland.

Supergirl is set to be released in the United States on June 26, 2026, as part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The first trailer highlights Kara’s galactic journey, her encounters with new characters, and the intense action that sets the tone for her story.
