Fox News host Jesse Watters is drawing criticism after making offhand comments about Jennifer Aniston’s looks during a recent episode of The Five.

The awkward moment unfolded on Wednesday when the panel began discussing former California congresswoman Katie Porter, who is running for governor.

Co-host Greg Gutfeld commented on Porter’s appearance, saying he admired her for not conforming to Hollywood beauty standards. “We are living in the age of appearances,” he said. “She’s resisting the makeover. She’s saying, ‘I will never ever change who I am.’ She is a hero.”

Gutfeld then joked that people didn’t care about their looks before the rise of online beauty tutorials.

He claimed that before YouTube taught people how to style their hair and do makeup, “everyone looked like Katie Porter.” He went on to add, “People didn’t get attractive until the internet. Watch Friends, they’re not even hot.”

That’s when Watters joined in, saying, “Jennifer Aniston looks better now, like, 20 years older.” The comment caused the discussion to drift away from politics and into uncomfortable territory.

Co-host Harold Ford Jr. tried to end the chatter and move on, but Watters circled back to clarify his point, saying, “I actually think Jennifer Aniston was much better looking in Friends. I think I meant she’s more glamorous now.”

Ford quickly shut down the conversation, replying, “Why don’t we get on to the next segment?” But before the topic ended, co-host Katie Pavlich added her own remark, suggesting that Aniston’s current appearance might be the result of wealth. “Money buys a lot of makeover… for everyone,” she said.

Jennifer Aniston has not responded to the remarks. The Morning Show star has previously spoken out about her personal life, including her struggles with IVF and fertility, as well as her criticisms of certain Republican figures. In 2024, she publicly disagreed with Vice President JD Vance after he made dismissive comments about women without children, referring to them as “childless cat ladies.”

The conversation on The Five was out of line. It’s disappointing to see national TV hosts turning a political discussion into a shallow debate about a woman’s looks. Jennifer Aniston’s career and influence speak for themselves, and her worth doesn’t need to be measured by her appearance. What do you think about the hosts’ comments?
