Fresh Images Released for ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’
Excitement is building for Star Wars fans as Empire released a new image from the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie, directed by Jon Favreau and co-written with Dave Filoni, continues the story from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian (2019–2023).
Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, with Grogu by his side. Sigourney Weaver joins as Ward, a colonel and leader in the New Republic. Jeremy Allen White plays Rotta, the son of Jabba the Hutt, and Jonny Coyne takes on the role of an Imperial warlord commanding a remnant faction of the fallen Galactic Empire.

Originally, Favreau and Filoni had written a fourth season of The Mandalorian by February 2023, but production was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes. During that pause, Lucasfilm decided to focus on making a feature film rather than finishing the season first. The project was officially announced in January 2024, with filming taking place in California from August to December of the same year.
The story is set after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Din Djarin and Grogu are called upon by the New Republic as Imperial warlords continue to threaten the galaxy. Fans will also see returning characters like Dave Filoni’s Trapper Wolf, Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios from Star Wars Rebels, and members of the Anzellan species from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to hit theaters in the United States on May 22, 2026.
