George Clooney and Adam Sandler Star in New Trailer for ‘Jay Kelly’
A new trailer has been released for Jay Kelly, the coming-of-age comedy-drama starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler.
The film, directed by Noah Baumbach and co-written with Emily Mortimer, follows a famous actor, Jay Kelly, and his devoted manager, Ron, as they travel across Europe and reflect on their life choices, relationships, and legacies.
The movie also features an ensemble cast, including Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Greta Gerwig, Isla Fisher, and Emily Mortimer. George Clooney plays Jay Kelly, the renowned actor at the center of the story, while Adam Sandler plays his loyal manager, Ron Sukenick.
According to the premise, “Famous movie actor Jay Kelly and his devoted manager Ron embark on a whirlwind and unexpectedly profound journey through Europe. Along the way, both men are forced to confront the choices they’ve made, the relationships with their loved ones, and the legacies they’ll leave behind.”

Jay Kelly premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on August 28, where it competed for the Golden Lion. It is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on November 14, and will become available globally on Netflix on December 5. The film is also set to screen at the 2025 New York Film Festival.
Production on the film began in March 2024, with filming taking place in New York City, London, and Tuscany. Swedish cinematographer Linus Sandgren shot the movie on 35mm film, marking his first collaboration with Baumbach. Valerio Bonelli handled the editing, and Nicholas Britell was hired to compose the score by July.
The story explores not just the professional lives of its characters but also their personal relationships. Laura Dern plays Jay’s publicist Liz, Billy Crudup is Timothy, Jay’s acting friend who never had a big break, and Riley Keough plays Jay’s eldest daughter Jessica. Jim Broadbent appears as Peter Schneider, a recently deceased director who gave Jay his big break, while Greta Gerwig plays Ron’s wife Lois.
Early reviews have been positive. On Rotten Tomatoes, 81% of 43 critics’ reviews were favorable, while Metacritic gave the film a score of 65 out of 100, indicating generally favorable reception.
The new trailer highlights the film’s mix of humor, reflection, and emotional depth. It shows Clooney and Sandler’s chemistry as the actor and his manager, with scenic shots from their European journey and moments that hint at the characters’ personal struggles and growth.
