German Teen Drama Season 2 Tops Prime Video, Overtaking American Hit ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

The second season of the German teen romance series Maxton Hall — The World Between Us has officially taken the top spot on Prime Video, surpassing the popular American show The Summer I Turned Pretty, according to streaming statistics from FlixPatrol.

The show now ranks number one in multiple countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa.

Based on Mona Kasten’s 2018 novel Save Me, the series follows James Beaufort, played by Damian Hardung, and Ruby Bell, portrayed by Harriet Herbig-Matten. Since its premiere in May 2024, Maxton Hall became a global sensation, quickly becoming the most-watched Prime Original outside the U.S., topping charts in over 120 regions.

The second season, which debuted on November 7, continues to explore the personal and romantic lives of the characters, earning praise from viewers for its engaging storytelling. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently holds an 89% audience rating, reflecting strong fan approval. For comparison, the first season received a 70% critic rating, showing clear growth in audience appreciation.

Ahead of the Season 2 premiere, Amazon renewed the series for a third season in June 2025, signaling confidence in its ongoing popularity.
