In February 2024, Disney+ announced that Percy Jackson and the Olympians would return for a second season. This season will adapt the second book in the Percy Jackson series, The Sea of Monsters, and is set to release in 2025.

Albert Kim has been brought on as an executive producer for the second season, starting in April 2024. Writing for the new season started in March 2023, and plans for future seasons include more focus on Chiron’s disability. The writing for a third season even began in February 2025, showing how big the plans are for the series.

Casting for the second season began in June 2024. During San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, Daniel Diemer was announced as Tyson, Percy Jackson’s half-brother. A few weeks later, on August 10, Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho were confirmed to play the Gray Sisters, with each portraying one of the three sisters: Anger, Tempest, and Wasp, respectively.

In August, Timothy Simons was revealed to play Tantalus, and on September 23, Tamara Smart was cast as Thalia Grace. In November, Andra Day was announced as Athena, and Courtney B. Vance was cast as Zeus after the sad passing of Lance Reddick.

Other guest roles include Rosemarie DeWitt as C.C., Aleks Paunovic as Polyphemus, Beatrice Kitsos as Alison Simms, and Kevin Chacon as Chris Rodriguez.

Now new BTS photos showcase how the cast and crew tirelessly worked on the production.

Principal photography for Season 2 began on August 1, 2024, in Vancouver and wrapped up on January 31, 2025. The series is expected to be available to stream in 2025.
