‘Ghost of Yotei’ Artist Drew Harrison Fired After Heinous Comments About Charlie Kirk
Drew Harrison, a senior character artist at Sucker Punch Productions, has been fired after a controversial social media post about the shooter of Charlie Kirk went viral.
Harrison, who goes by @imodrew.bsky.social on the BlueSky platform, made a joke linking the incident to Nintendo’s Mario.
“I hope the shooter’s name is Mario so that Luigi knows his bro got his back,” she wrote, referring to Luigi Mangione, 27, accused of fatally shooting Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, in New York City in December 2024.
The post quickly spread across X and Reddit, drawing outrage from users online. Many have called for a boycott of Sucker Punch Productions’ upcoming game, Ghost of Yotei, which is set to release on October 2 for PlayStation 5.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Harrison had been a senior staff character artist at Sucker Punch since 2016. She worked as a look developer and texture artist for the company’s games and had also contributed to film productions.
In response to the backlash, Harrison posted follow-up messages on BlueSky. “I have been told that the Twitter has noticed me from across the room uwu,” she wrote in one. In another, she added, “Some of y’all have never heard of the critically acclaimed Mario Bros franchise by Nintendo & it shows.”

Harrison later confirmed she had lost her job, stating, “If standing up against fascism is what cost me my dream job I held for 10 years, I would do it again 100x stronger.”

Sucker Punch Productions has not commented on the situation.
