Glen Powell and Adria Arjona’s Hit Movie Is Becoming a Netflix Series
Netflix is moving forward with plans to turn the film Hit Man into a television series. The project is based on the 2024 movie from AGC Studios that starred Glen Powell and was co-written and produced by Richard Linklater. The original film gained attention after its release and later found a larger audience on Netflix.
The information comes from Deadline, which reported that the streaming platform is now developing the series version of the story. According to the report, Glen Powell and Richard Linklater are both attached as executive producers if the series moves ahead. The script for the show is being written by Stephen Falk, who created the FX series You’re the Worst.
The production team includes AGC Television along with Powell’s own company, BarnStorm Productions. Several producers are also involved in executive and co-executive producing roles, including Stuart Ford, Miguel A. Palos Jr., and Lourdes Diaz from AGC. Other producers such as Steve Barnett, Alan Powell, Vicky Patel, Shivani Rawat, and Julie Goldstein are listed as co-executive producers.
Netflix has not officially commented on the development of the series. The details of the plot are still being kept secret. However, the show is expected to follow the general idea of the original film.
The movie Hit Man tells the story of a police contractor who works in an unusual way. He pretends to be a fake hitman in order to trap people who are trying to hire someone to commit murder. In the film, the character uses disguises and different identities as part of his undercover work. This concept is expected to remain at the center of the series adaptation as well.

The original movie had a strong festival run before reaching Netflix. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival and later screened at the Toronto Film Festival. After that, Netflix acquired distribution rights in several regions, including the United States and the United Kingdom, in a deal reported to be worth around 20 million dollars.
Once it was released on Netflix in June 2024, the film received positive reviews from critics and viewers. It also earned award attention, including a Golden Globe nomination for Glen Powell and a Writers Guild of America nomination for both Powell and Linklater.
This new series project follows Netflix’s recent trend of turning successful films into television shows. The platform has done similar expansions with other titles, building longer stories from popular movies that already have strong audiences.
Stephen Falk, who is writing the series, is known for creating You’re the Worst and has also worked on shows like Orange Is the New Black, Weeds, and Hello Tomorrow!. His involvement signals that the series may keep a mix of comedy, drama, and sharp character storytelling.
For now, the Hit Man series is still in early development, and no release date has been announced.
