Movie theater collectibles have turned into a competitive sport. Studios and theater chains now try to outdo each other with sculpted buckets and cups that fans line up for, and some end up as conversation pieces long after the film leaves theaters.

A big part of that trend is size. The record-setting Galactus bucket from last year’s ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ earned a Guinness World Record in 2025 as the largest commercially available popcorn container, and since then every oversized release has been measured against it.

The latest challenger arrived on Tuesday. Cinemark has unveiled its theater merchandise for ‘Godzilla Minus Zero‘, led by a full-body 3D Godzilla popcorn bucket that stands 19.5 inches tall. The reveal got plenty of attention on social media, with the DiscussingFilm post sharing the first look passing 488,000 views in just a few hours.

The lineup has three pieces. The 3D Godzilla Popcorn Bucket comes with an XL popcorn served on the side, and the Heat Ray Drink Bottle is a sculpted Godzilla head with a blue, heat-ray-shaped bottle rising from its mouth, paired with a large drink. The third piece is a more traditional popcorn tin carrying the film’s logo over storm clouds.

All 3 items come with a free same-day refill, though the refills exclude ICEEs. The collectibles will be available at select Cinemark theaters while supplies last, and Cinemark has not yet announced pricing or an on-sale date.

That is the question fans keep asking, and the honest answer is that nobody has confirmed it. Posts online have claimed the Godzilla bucket is the largest in history, but no official record exists to verify that.

The numbers are interesting, though. The bucket was first spotted when the film’s Brazilian distributor, Sato Company, showed it at EXPOCINE in São Paulo, and reports said it was made by Golden Link, the same manufacturer behind the Galactus bucket. The Galactus container measured about 17.5 inches tall, so Godzilla beats it on height by 2 inches.

Alamo Drafthouse, which is also selling a version, lists the bucket at 19.5 inches tall, 17 inches wide and 22 inches long, with a capacity of 85 ounces. Its pre-order price there is $90, and the popcorn loads through an opening in Godzilla’s back. Reports note that the Galactus bucket still holds considerably more popcorn, so Godzilla wins on stature while Galactus keeps the capacity crown.

The reaction online has been equal parts excitement and disbelief. One fan joked that calling the item a bucket was stretching the definition of the word, which is a fair point for a piece that is essentially a Godzilla statue with a lid. Other coverage wondered how anyone is supposed to carry the snack into the theater, let alone find room for it once they sit down.

Still, collectors rarely seem deterred by practicality, and the sculpt looks detailed enough to justify a shelf. The Heat Ray bottle may be the sleeper hit, since the glowing blue swirl comes straight from Godzilla’s signature attack.

The merchandise reveal came on the same day tickets went on sale in the U.S. ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ opens in North America on November 6 through GKIDS, three days after its November 3 release in Japan, and it is billed as the first Japanese production shot for IMAX. The film premiered at the New York Film Festival on September 26 and is rated R with a runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Takashi Yamazaki returns as writer, director and visual effects supervisor, and the story picks up in 1949, 2 years after the events of ‘Godzilla Minus One’, which became the first Godzilla film to win an Oscar. Returning cast members include Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, Min Tanaka and Kuranosuke Sasaki.

Early reviews have been strong. The Hollywood Reporter called it a crackling kaiju epic that is every bit as exciting as its predecessor, while a roundup of critical reactions described it as a great Godzilla sequel that falls slightly short of the Oscar-winning original.
