Grand Theft Auto 6 fans may have to wait even longer than expected. Rockstar Games has given very little information about the game since the initial trailer, and a recent insider discussion suggests the November 2026 release could be at risk.

On a recent episode of the “Button Mash” podcast, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier and hosts Ben and Matt James talked about GTA 6 and why it may not be ready on time. According to Schreier, the game is still not complete. Developers are reportedly finishing missions and deciding what content will make it into the final version. After that, they will need to spend time fixing bugs.

“Nobody at Rockstar seemed 100% certain they’ll make it,” Schreier said, explaining that the studio wants the game to be perfect before it launches. The November 2026 date may be ambitious, especially since Rockstar has historically delayed games to meet quality standards.

Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, has a fiscal year ending in late March 2027, giving the team some flexibility. Even if GTA 6 is delayed past November, it could still be released within the same fiscal year, possibly in early 2027.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the game since the announcement, and leaks have offered some information, but official updates remain scarce. Schreier suggested that Sony is planning its release schedule around GTA 6, which adds extra pressure to finalize a launch date soon.

It’s not unusual for highly anticipated games like GTA 6 to face delays, especially given the expectations and scope of the project. Rockstar seems determined to avoid releasing a game that isn’t fully polished.
