Greg Cipes Says WB Fired Him a Day After Parkinson’s Diagnosis: “It’s Like a Death to Me”
Greg Cipes, best known as the voice of Beast Boy, says he was fired from Teen Titans Go! shortly after telling the public about his Parkinson’s diagnosis. Now, he’s asking fans to help him get the role back.
The story began when DC fan and internet journalist Emmanuel Newsome posted about Cipes on Instagram. In the post, Newsome tagged James Gunn and wrote that the actor had shared “lots of upsetting details” about how Warner Bros. treated him after learning about his condition.
Cipes then replied to the post himself, saying, “Warner Bros. literally fired me on Valentine’s Day right after I publicly shared my Parkinson’s diagnosis. It’s like a death to me that only the fans can bring back to life.”

Newsome later added that he plans to launch a petition to help Cipes return to the series.
Cipes has voiced Beast Boy for more than 20 years, starting with the original Teen Titans cartoon in 2003. He continued the role in Teen Titans Go! from its debut in 2013 and stayed on through all nine seasons. Along with Beast Boy, he also voiced Adonis and Private H.I.V.E. during the run of the earlier show.
Outside of the Titans franchise, Cipes has built a long career in animation. His credits include Young Justice, Ben 10, Milo Murphy’s Law, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, and DC Super Hero Girls.
Meanwhile, Teen Titans Go! has become one of DC’s biggest animated successes. The series has aired more than 400 episodes, inspired TV specials, and even a feature film. It has also earned multiple Emmy nominations. The rest of the cast features Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Hynden Walch, and Tara Strong.
For Cipes, losing the role of Beast Boy is more than just the end of a job. His words show how deeply the decision has affected him, and he is turning to fans as the only way to bring him back to the series he has been part of for decades.
If what Cipes says is true, this is heartbreaking. Beast Boy has been his voice for over 20 years, and removing him after sharing a health condition feels unfair.
At the same time, the fan support he’s getting might give Warner Bros. a reason to listen. What do you think about this situation? Should Greg Cipes be brought back as Beast Boy? Share your thoughts in the comments.
