‘Harry Potter’ Reboot Finally Brings Missing Fan-Favorite Character to the Screen
The Harry Potter reboot is adding more of the magical world fans didn’t get to see in the original movies.
According to Redandian Intelligence, actor Jake Curran has been cast as Ronan, a centaur who was left out of The Sorcerer’s Stone film. In the books, Ronan is an important ally of Firenze and the fiery centaur Bane and first meets Hagrid while investigating the death of a unicorn.
Ronan’s absence in the first movie meant that some key moments were missing, and Curran’s casting could fix that. In the books, Ronan plays a role in three major events. He protects Hermione, Ron, and Harry during their encounter with Grawp, leads the centaurs into the Battle of Hogwarts, and uses his divination powers to warn of war with his repeated phrase, “Mars is bright.”
His presence also helps set up Firenze’s later role as the Divination teacher at Hogwarts.
Another exciting aspect of Curran’s casting is the chance for better centaur visuals. The first movie’s centaur scenes were widely criticized for poor CGI, making it hard for audiences to see the creatures properly.
Curran’s physical resemblance to Ronan, minus the horse part, is a good sign that the reboot will deliver more realistic and visually appealing centaurs. This improvement could fix one of the original films’ weakest effects moments.
If the reboot uses Curran well and improves the centaur visuals, it could be a strong step toward giving fans a more faithful adaptation of the books. Restoring missing characters and improving effects may make the magical world feel richer and more complete for both new viewers and longtime fans.
