Harvey Dent Has Officially Been Cast in ‘The Batman Part II’

A major casting update has come in for The Batman Part II, and it’s already getting fans talking. According to Deadline Hollywood, Sebastian Stan will take on the role of Harvey Dent in the upcoming sequel.

Harvey Dent is one of the most important figures in Batman stories. He later becomes Two-Face, one of Gotham’s most dangerous villains. This casting suggests the new film may explore that path. It also shows that the sequel could go deeper into the city’s legal and political side.

Director Matt Reeves is returning to lead the project. He is also writing the script with Mattson Tomlin. The story is expected to focus more on Bruce Wayne, not just Batman. It will follow him as he looks into another case tied to corruption across Gotham.

Several cast members from the first film are coming back. Robert Pattinson will return as Batman. Jeffrey Wright is back as Jim Gordon, and Colin Farrell will again play the Penguin. Barry Keoghan is also expected to appear again as the Joker. Scarlett Johansson has joined the cast as well, but her role has not been revealed yet.

Another confirmed return is Andy Serkis as Alfred. He spoke about the film while doing press, saying, “I’m pretty certain it’s all going to work out. Yeah, we’re working on it, but I think it’s all looking good.” He also said he “won’t be joining them immediately,” but “by the end of the year, I will be.”

The film has had a long road to production. It was first announced in 2022 but faced delays, partly due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. The script was completed in mid-2025, allowing the project to finally move forward.

Filming is set to begin at the end of May 2026. Production will take place in the UK, including at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, along with locations in Liverpool and Glasgow. Luke Hull is handling the film’s design, while Erik Messerschmidt will oversee the visuals.

The film is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2027.

Casting Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent is a strong move. He has the range to play both sides of the character, which could make this version of Dent stand out.
