HBO Is Remaking Netflix’s Hit Series
HBO is developing an American remake of the popular French series Call My Agent, Variety reports. The new version will take the story from the Parisian talent agency setting and place it in the world of sports.
The original show, which first aired in 2015 as Dix pour cent on France 2, became an international hit after Netflix acquired it and renamed it Call My Agent.
The dramedy follows the personal and professional lives of a close-knit but sometimes chaotic group of talent agents in Paris. The cast of the French version included Camille Cottin, Thibault de Montalembert, Grégory Montel, Liliane Rovère, Fanny Sidney, Laure Calamy, Nicolas Maury, and Stéfi Celma.
For the HBO adaptation, the series will focus on four sports agents juggling their busy careers with their personal lives. The official logline describes it as, “Four work-obsessed sports agents struggle to balance their personal lives and their clients’ needs in an industry where, more and more, it feels like being an athlete is just the start.”
Sarah Schneider, co-creator of The Other Two, will write and serve as executive producer. She will collaborate with Plan B and Fulwell Entertainment’s SpringHill Studios on the project.
The American version is the latest in a series of international adaptations of Call My Agent. The show has already been remade in countries including Turkey, India, Germany, the U.K., and Korea. A Chinese adaptation is reportedly in development as well.
