HBO Reveals Jaw-Dropping First Image of New ‘Harry Potter’ Series
HBO has finally given fans their first glimpse of the new “Harry Potter” series. The image, released Tuesday morning, shows the young wizard heading to the Quidditch pitch. Fans get a look at him from behind, dressed in Gryffindor robes and carrying his broom. Those paying close attention might spot a “Fred and George” banner in the background, a nod to Ron Weasley’s older brothers.
Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry, with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The main cast was announced back in May, and filming began in July. A teaser for the show is expected to drop Wednesday, teasing more of what’s to come.
The series was first announced in 2023 when HBO launched its rebranded streaming platform, Max. None of the original movie actors will return, but Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry in the films, shared his excitement about the new take.
“I’m actually delighted that if, when my kid grows up and is into ‘Harry Potter,’ he can watch a version that is not me, which I feel like watching it with your dad would be less cool, right? It would kind of take you out of it,” Radcliffe told Stephen Colbert.
Radcliffe also reached out to McLaughlin to wish him luck in the role and asked fans not to put the new actors in a position to compare themselves to him, Emma Watson, or Rupert Grint.
This first image is already sparking conversation online. Fans are debating everything from the look of the new Harry to how the series will adapt the story for TV. The lightning bolt emoji in the caption hints at iconic moments to come.
It’s exciting to see a fresh take on such a beloved story. A new generation will get to experience Hogwarts in a whole new way. What do you think about this new series? Are you excited, skeptical, or somewhere in between? Share your thoughts in the comments.
