Henry Cavill Reveals Netflix Show He Couldn’t Stop Watching
Henry Cavill once opened up about his love for the Netflix animated series Arcane during an interview with BBC Radio 1 film critic Ali Plumb. The actor revealed that he quickly became hooked on the show after being recommended to watch it.
“I went home immediately, and I was like, ‘Right, Natalie… I was told by this guy at work that I should watch Arcane,’” Cavill said. “I couldn’t stop watching it, and it got really late, and Matthew was going, ‘Right, we should probably go to bed’. I was like, ‘No no no no no! Gotta keep on watching!’… I’m very thankful that you introduced me to that because I may have missed it otherwise.”
Arcane, officially titled Arcane: League of Legends, is a steampunk action-adventure series set in Riot Games’ popular League of Legends universe. Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, it follows sisters Violet, known as Vi, and Powder, or Jinx, as they get caught up in a conflict between their home city of Zaun and the wealthy city of Piltover.
The series is produced by French animation studio Fortiche under Riot Games’ supervision and is distributed globally by Netflix.
The first season premiered in November 2021, and the second and final season was released in November 2024. Arcane received widespread critical praise for its animation, writing, worldbuilding, soundtrack, and voice performances. Some critics noted mixed reactions to the pacing of the second season, but the series was celebrated as a standout video game adaptation.
It became Netflix’s top-rated show within a week of its debut, ranking first in 52 countries and second in the United States. The series also earned multiple awards, including two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program and an Annie Award for Best General Audience Animated Television Broadcast Production.
Cavill’s enthusiasm highlights the series’ broad appeal. Even those who have never played League of Legends can enjoy its storytelling and character depth.
