Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of the biggest events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bringing together the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Wakanda’s heroes, the film promises an epic showdown against Doctor Doom. With the Russo brothers back in the director’s chair and a massive star-studded cast, fans are gearing up for a superhero spectacle like no other, set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

But with so many names confirmed to take part in the movie, it’s easy to see how we can expect several teams to form. Some we have already seen, and some are only rumors so far, so let’s check them out.

1. Sam Wilson’s Avengers

It’s been known for a while that Avengers: Doomsday will feature not one, but two Avengers teams, and one of them is expected to be led by the current Captain America, Sam Wilson. According to rumors, this team will be assembled off-screen, which has left some fans disappointed. While the exact lineup hasn’t been confirmed, looking at the cast list and past Avengers members, it’s likely that Ant-Man and Thor will be part of the team, along with Shuri and Shang-Chi.

    2. The New Avengers / Thunderbolts

We got a glimpse of the New Avengers team assembling in this year’s Thunderbolts*, and it looks like they’re here to stay. Based on how the movie ended, the roster is expected to include Red Guardian, Ava Starr, Yelena Belova, Sentry, Sam Walker, and Bucky. Rumors also suggest that Sam Wilson won’t be entirely on board with this setup, especially with Bucky taking the lead.

    3. The Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four were confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday even before their solo MCU movie hit theaters. From the post-credit scene of their film, we already know they have some connection to Doctor Doom, and the movie itself establishes that they’re aware of multiple realities. The team, of course, consists of Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, and The Thing.

    4. Team Loki / Exiles

Keep in mind that this team is still purely rumored and hasn’t been confirmed by any official sources. Apparently, Loki will have his own representatives in the form of some kind of time exiles.

The rumored members include Deadpool and Wolverine, Sylvie, Gambit, Hunter B-15, Captain Carter, and a Nomad variant of Captain America. If you think about it, this lineup makes sense, since almost all of these characters in the MCU have been kicked out of, lost, or messed with their timelines in some way, except for Nomad, who hasn’t been introduced yet but is widely rumored to be played by Chris Evans.

    5. The X-Men

    Via Fox

This one is pretty straightforward. It’s clear that the MCU’s reality will collide with the Fox universe, bringing the original X-Men into the MCU. So far, the confirmed members include Professor X, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Mystique, and Cyclops. Keep in mind, these are just the names announced so far, there could be more.

    6. Doom’s Team

    Via Marvel Studios

It makes sense that Doctor Doom will assemble his own “champions” to help carry out his plan—after all, even Thanos had his own team of helpers, both double agents and loyal followers. While this team hasn’t been officially confirmed, rumors and theories suggest that Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange could be involved.

It’s not clear how Scarlet Witch would be connected to Doom in this scenario, but in the Secret Wars storyline, Doctor Strange did work for Doom before eventually turning against him.
