‘Highlander’ Star Christopher Lambert Collapses at Steel City Comic-Con

Fan conventions have long been a staple stop for veteran actors looking to connect with longtime supporters, and Christopher Lambert has remained a fixture on that circuit for years. The ‘Highlander’ star, now 69, has continued making regular convention appearances even as his acting workload has slowed down in recent years.

This past weekend found Lambert at Steel City Con in Pittsburgh, actively engaging with fans by signing autographs and posing for photos at his booth. Steel City’s official social media accounts had shared images of him earlier in the event, promoting his appearance with a nod to his most famous role as Connor MacLeod in the ‘Highlander’ franchise.

That appearance took an unexpected turn on Saturday when Lambert suddenly collapsed on the convention floor while meeting fans. Witnesses told TMZ that emergency medical personnel quickly responded and transported the actor away by ambulance for treatment, prompting immediate concern from fans who had gathered to see him.

Fortunately, the situation resolved without serious complications. A representative for Lambert confirmed to TMZ that he is perfectly okay and resting comfortably in his hotel room, attributing the collapse to a combination of exhaustion, insufficient sleep the night before, and low blood sugar from not eating enough throughout the day.

The demanding nature of convention appearances has been cited as a likely contributing factor to Lambert’s collapse. Long autograph sessions, crowded convention floors, and back-to-back photo opportunities can make for an exhausting day even for younger attendees, let alone actors well into their sixties managing a packed schedule with limited chances to rest or eat.

This isn’t the first health scare Lambert has experienced on the convention circuit. In March 2025, he was forced to cancel an appearance at SciFiWorld in Sweden after suffering a serious fall down a set of hotel stairs, an injury that required him to avoid travel or significant movement for a full month under doctor’s orders.

Steel City Con’s organizers confirmed that Lambert’s scheduled photo op was canceled following the incident, with his return for the convention’s final day left uncertain and dependent entirely on how he felt after resting. Despite that uncertainty, reports indicate Lambert remains confident he’ll be well enough to attend FAN EXPO Chicago the following week, which runs from August 14 through August 16.

Beyond his signature role in ‘Highlander’ and its sequels, Lambert has built a career spanning decades, including his portrayal of Tarzan in ‘Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes’ and Raiden in the ‘Mortal Kombat’ franchise. He most recently appeared in 2025’s ‘The Creeps’ and lent his voice and likeness to a Raiden skin in ‘Mortal Kombat 1,’ showing he remains active in the industry even amid these occasional health setbacks.

With his representatives confirming there’s no expectation of lasting impact from Saturday’s incident, fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the ‘Highlander’ star is on the mend.
