Hilary Duff Celebrates Her 39th Birthday With a Glowing ‘Lucky Me’ Tour Portrait as Her Comeback Keeps Growing

Few comebacks have been as well timed as Hilary Duff’s return to music. After a decade away from the stage, she signed with Atlantic Records last year and released a run of new singles, starting with ‘Mature’. The song racked up more than 5 million global streams in its first week.

That momentum carried into a full album and a full tour. Her sixth studio album, luck… or something, is her first full body of new music since 2015, and it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The Lucky Me Tour that followed is her first full-scale global headline run in nearly two decades.

Now a fresh image from that tour has landed on her birthday. Duff was born on September 28, 1987, so she turned 39 this week. In a new photo by Michael Drummond shared on the day, she smiles wide against a dark green wall, wearing a glossy blue top and light denim, with her long blonde hair falling in loose waves.

Drummond has been closely tied to this chapter. Billboard’s coverage of the London wrap-up show credits him for its photos, and JamBase used his image in its report on the tour’s expansion. That makes the birthday portrait feel like a natural extension of the tour’s visual identity.

The image itself is relaxed. There are no heavy props or dramatic lighting, just a big smile and a casual outfit. It fits the tone of a tour that has leaned into warmth and nostalgia.

The story of this tour starts small. Duff played her first headline concert in over a decade at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and then a run of sold-out ‘Small Rooms, Big Nerves’ shows. Those dates were designed as an up-close way to reconnect with live performance.

She followed that with a sold-out residency at the Voltaire at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. The Lucky Me Tour then began on June 22 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and has since taken her across the U.S., the U.K. and beyond. La Roux has supported on the 2026 shows, with Jade LeMac joining the North American dates.

The biggest news came last week. At her final U.K. show at London’s O2 Arena, her second sold-out night at the venue, Duff closed with ‘What Dreams Are Made Of’. Butterfly-shaped confetti carried a message reading “2027 More Dates Loading,” and a countdown clock appeared on screen and on her website.

When the timer hit zero, she announced 32 new dates. Europe kicks off May 7 in Madrid and runs through cities including Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Copenhagen before wrapping in Stockholm on May 22. Rebecca Black supports on all the European dates.

The expansion continues in Latin America in August, starting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on August 10, with stops in São Paulo and Buenos Aires before the leg concludes in Santiago, Chile, on August 20. A new run of U.S. dates then begins October 1 in Sunrise, Florida, and wraps November 20 in Anaheim, California.

Dashboard Confessional will join as a special guest on at least one stop, at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena on October 13. The mix of pop-punk and pop nostalgia suits an audience that grew up with both.

Timing matters here. Citi and Verizon presales began Monday, September 28, and an artist presale runs today, September 29, at noon local time. General on-sale begins Friday, October 2, at 10 a.m. local on Ticketmaster and StubHub.

Before those shows, there are dates still to come this year. The tour heads to New Zealand and Australia in October, starting October 20 in Auckland, then Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. It then moves through Canada in January before ending in Mexico City on February 12.

The birthday image works because it captures a moment of genuine momentum. Duff is smiling at a time when her tour is expanding and her album is earning strong reviews. Fans have responded with plenty of enthusiasm, and the sold-out shows back that up.
