Hollywood Hair Isn’t Cheap – Celeb Stylist Reveals Insane Six-Figure Price
Chris Appleton is giving fans an inside look at just how much it costs to maintain Hollywood-level hair. The 42-year-old celebrity stylist, known for working with A-listers like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, revealed the staggering price of some of his most high-profile jobs during a recent appearance on the U Up? podcast with Jordana Abraham and Jared Freid.
“Like 100K, but that was to travel and stuff. That was a whole situation,” Appleton explained. He stressed that such six-figure fees are rare exceptions rather than his standard rate. Taxes, agents, and other expenses significantly reduce what he actually takes home. “It gets dwindled down,” he added, giving listeners a realistic glimpse into the business side of celebrity styling.
Appleton has been behind some of the most memorable hair moments in recent Hollywood history. He handled Kim Kardashian’s icy blonde transformation for the 2024 Met Gala and gave Kris Jenner a sleek, blonde-tinted bob that made headlines. His work with Jennifer Lopez and other stars has cemented his reputation as one of the most sought-after stylists in the industry.
Despite his high-profile clientele, Appleton remains open about his insecurities. In a January 20 interview with People, he admitted, “We all have that self-doubt. Every job I do, I’m always still a little nervous. I’m always a little anxious still.” His new memoir, Your Roots Don’t Define You, released the same day, explores these feelings in depth. The book chronicles his journey from a modest upbringing in England to becoming a top stylist on Sunset Boulevard.
During his book tour, which includes stops on the TODAY show and The Drew Barrymore Show, Appleton shared a serious health scare. While working on the book, he had to undergo an “intense operation” to remove cysts. “What I really wanted to do was own my voice before the possibility of it getting taken away,” he told TODAY, explaining that the experience pushed him to be more honest in his memoir.
Appleton also reflects on his 2024 divorce from actor Lukas Gage. “I realize love isn’t enough,” he said, noting that personal growth and accountability are crucial lessons. Beyond his memoir, he continues to serve as creative director for several major hair-care brands and appears regularly on The Kardashians, giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at celebrity beauty. Rumors suggest he may even create a reality competition series to discover the next top celebrity stylist.
While his professional life is busy, Appleton prioritizes family. He recently spent time in Miami with his two children, Kitty-Blu and Billy.
Whether you follow his career through The Kardashians or his new book, Appleton continues to inspire aspiring stylists and fans alike. His upcoming projects include further high-profile collaborations with top celebrities and expanding his influence in the hair-care industry.
