Hollywood Remembers Tim Curry: Tributes Pour in from Luke Evans, “Clue” Co-Stars, and More
Tributes continue to pour in following the death of Tim Curry, the British actor best known for “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” at age 80. Luke Evans, who recently wrapped a seven-month run playing Frank-N-Furter in the current Broadway revival of “The Rocky Horror Show,” shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, calling Curry “a force, a bright fierce flame, an exquisite charm.”
Evans also posted a letter he had written to Curry several weeks earlier, thanking him for his “fearless performance” and for “creating something so enduring.” He wrote, “There will only be one Tim Curry. All the rest of us will just have to do our best to emulate some of the magic of that role that I’ve just spent 7 months playing.”
Curry’s “Clue” co-stars also shared personal remembrances. Lesley Ann Warren, who played Miss Scarlet opposite Curry’s Wadsworth in the 1985 film, wrote on Instagram, “My dear companion in crime, the brilliant, hilarious, hysterically funny, magician of artistry has left us. What an unbelievable joy to have shared a sound stage with him and to engage with such a master talent. I adored him. Bless his wild and inspired soul. Love you Tim.”
Carol Burnett, who starred alongside Curry in 1982’s “Annie,” described him in her own Instagram tribute as a dear friend, writing, “Nobody could play lovable villains better than he could.”
Josh Gad posted a photo of Curry to his Instagram story with the caption “Another day, another legend,” a nod to the fact that Curry’s death came just over a week after country icon Dolly Parton also passed away.
O’Shea Jackson Jr. made a similar connection on X, writing simply, “Rip Dolly Parton. Rip Tim Curry.” Selma Blair, meanwhile, commented “Rest in peace. Kind and wonderful you” on Curry’s most recent Instagram post.
Curry died Tuesday night at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, according to his longtime manager and friend Marcia Hurwitz, following years of health struggles after a major stroke in 2012 left him reliant on a wheelchair.
Even Princess Diana was reportedly once a fan of his most famous role, having asked to meet Curry and telling him, when he asked if she’d seen “Rocky Horror,” that it had “quite completed” her education.
As tributes continue to arrive from across the entertainment industry, they collectively paint a picture of an actor as beloved by his collaborators as he was by generations of fans.
