According to reporting from Variety, the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 is earning huge paychecks as the sequel continues its strong box office run, which has already passed 300 million dollars worldwide.

The film brings back the original trio of stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt after nearly 20 years since the first movie. In the sequel, Streep once again plays Miranda Priestly, the powerful fashion magazine editor.

Sources told Variety that Streep earned about 12.5 million dollars for returning to the role. Even though she was the main focus for the studio, she made sure her co-stars were treated the same during negotiations.

According to the report, all three actresses agreed to a “favored nations” deal, which means Hathaway and Blunt also received the same 12.5 million dollar salary for returning as Andrea Sachs and Emily Charlton.

The deal is described as rare in Hollywood because it keeps the main cast on equal pay terms. One of the sources noted that it reflects the importance of the original trio and the chemistry that made the first film so popular.

On top of their base salaries, the actresses are also expected to earn large bonus payments depending on how well the movie performs at the box office. These bonuses are tied to revenue milestones, and some early payouts have already started due to the strong global performance of the sequel.

The report also says that if the movie continues its current success, each star could eventually make over 20 million dollars in total earnings.

Representatives for 20th Century Studios and the actors’ agencies did not comment when contacted by Variety.

The original The Devil Wears Prada was released in 2006 and became a major hit, earning more than 300 million dollars worldwide. The sequel, directed by David Frankel, continues the story and has a much larger budget, with much of it reportedly going toward the cast.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is currently in its second weekend of release and is expected to remain strong at the box office.
