Hugh Jackman Teases Possible Return as Wolverine Once Again
Hugh Jackman is hinting that his time as Wolverine may not be over yet. The actor, who has played the iconic Marvel character for over two decades, told Cynthia Erivo during the Actors on Actors series that “it doesn’t feel like the end.”
Jackman explained, “I’ve told everyone that I’m done. I’m not one of those guys. Then I went, ‘You know what? I change my mind.’ It’s not that big of a deal. I’m not even gonna say I’m sorry. And it was so awesome.”

With Marvel gearing up for major releases in 2026, including Avengers: Doomsday, fans have been eagerly speculating about which characters will return. Wolverine and Deadpool are among the most anticipated appearances.
Jackman has previously teased the possibility of returning while promoting his film Song Sung Blue with Kate Hudson. On The Graham Norton Show, he joked, “Maybe. I’m never saying ‘never’ ever again… I have done 10 films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me.”
Even earlier this year, Jackman gave a careful non-answer during an appearance on The View: “I can’t say much… I really have nothing to add, and if I did, I would find a really cool way to not say it, but I actually have nothing to add.”
Adding to the speculation, Evangeline Lilly, who played Wasp in the Ant-Man films and Avengers: Endgame, teased a potential team-up with Jackman’s Wolverine.
Jackman first brought Wolverine to life in X-Men in 2000 and has reprised the role in 10 films over 24 years, including X2: X-Men United, The Wolverine, Logan, and most recently Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024. Whether he will appear in an 11th film remains unknown. Fans may have to wait until Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, for confirmation.
Jackman’s return would be a major moment for Marvel fans, as his portrayal of Wolverine has become legendary. “It’s exciting to think about what could happen next,” he hinted, keeping fans hopeful.
