‘Hyde Street’ #5 Preview: Mr. X-Ray Seeks an Ally Among the Terrifying Beings Known as The Residents

The eerie world of Hyde Street is back with its fifth issue, set to explore more of its chilling characters and dark secrets. This time, the focus shifts to Mr. X-Ray, the strange narrator who’s been trying to break free from Hyde Street’s grip since the series began.
In this issue, he takes a risky step by searching for help among The Residents, a group of frightening creatures tied to this haunting place. But finding a true ally among them might be harder than he expects.
A new character steps into the spotlight: Miss Glee Goodbody. She’s all about promoting a healthy life, flashing a wide smile and a confidence that never falters. To her clients, she’s a dream come true, offering an easy path to change without breaking a sweat. Yet, there’s something off about her.
Beneath that flawless surface, Mr. X-Ray suspects a hidden darkness—lies and decay she’s desperate to keep buried. Determined to dig deeper, he’s ready to face whatever dangers come with exposing her true nature.
The series has already brought readers a cast of unforgettable figures. There’s Pranky, a devilish Boy Scout who loves punishing the guilty, and Ms. Goodbody, a weight-loss expert with horrifying methods seen in the Devour one-shot.
Hyde Street #4 also introduced the “Matinee Monster,” a character some call the series’ saddest yet. Now, issue #5 promises to keep up the tension as Mr. X-Ray’s quest pulls him closer to the heart of Hyde Street’s mysteries.
This latest chapter comes from writer Geoff Johns, with art by Francis Portela and colors by Brad Anderson. The cover features the work of penciller Ivan Reis, inker Danny Miki, and colorist Brad Anderson, bringing the creepy vibe of Hyde Street to life.
Hyde Street #5 looks like it’s shaping up to be another gripping addition to the series. Mr. X-Ray’s hunt for answers keeps me hooked, and Miss Glee Goodbody sounds like a villain who’s equal parts fascinating and unsettling. The mix of horror and human struggle is what makes this series stand out—it’s not just about scares, but about the choices people make in dark times.
