‘Interview With a Vampire’ Season 4 Is Officially Happening With a New Title and First Look Revealed

That announcement arrived during the Comic-Con Hall H panel for ‘The Vampire Lestat,’ the show’s third season, which had wrapped its own run just one week earlier. AMC confirmed that ‘Interview With the Vampire’ has officially been renewed for a fourth season, taking on the new title ‘Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned,’ continuing the franchise’s tradition of retitling itself to match whichever Anne Rice novel each season adapts.

That naming convention has followed the series since the beginning, with its first two seasons carrying the ‘Interview With the Vampire’ title before shifting to ‘The Vampire Lestat’ for season three. Season four will now draw from ‘The Queen of the Damned,’ the third novel in Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, continuing the story’s ongoing exploration of the franchise’s central vampire mythology.

The new season will center heavily on Akasha, the ancient mother of all vampires, portrayed by Sheila Atim, who was introduced during episode five of the show’s third season. AMC dropped a chilling teaser alongside the renewal announcement, showing Akasha calling on women around the world to rise up against oppression, with the character declaring herself the answer to their suffering.

AMC Global Media chief content officer Dan McDermott praised the creative team’s work on the previous season, noting that the show delivered an unforgettable season filled with propulsive storytelling, according to Variety. He expressed excitement about continuing the story into ‘Queen of the Damned,’ describing it as one of the most iconic entries in Rice’s mythology as fans watch the established cast confront Akasha with the world hanging in the balance.

The renewal also brings a significant behind-the-scenes change, with Hannah Moscovitch stepping in as the new showrunner, taking over from Rolin Jones, who had guided the series through its first three seasons. Jones remains attached to the project as an executive producer alongside Mark Johnson, ensuring some creative continuity even as leadership shifts for this next chapter.

That timing lines up directly with how ‘The Vampire Lestat’ concluded just days earlier, ending on a cliffhanger that teased the return of Akasha and set the stage for the apocalyptic events now expected to define season four. Series star Sam Reid previously described Akasha as a genuinely terrifying figure, with Jones noting there is nothing level-headed coming with her arrival, based on comments shared with TV Insider ahead of the renewal.

The panel itself brought together much of the show’s key creative team, including Johnson, Moscovitch and Jones alongside cast members Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian and Atim herself. That combination of returning producers and core cast gave fans a clear signal that the franchise’s next chapter intends to build directly on everything established throughout the previous season.

No official synopsis or premiere date has been released yet for ‘Queen of the Damned,’ leaving fans with only the teaser and Akasha’s ominous declaration to speculate on for now. Given how quickly this renewal followed the previous season’s conclusion, AMC appears eager to keep momentum building for one of its most consistently talked about original series.
